Using credit cards responsibly and Finding the Best Credit Card for You

Is it possible to use credit responsibly? How do you find the best credit card for you?

Actually, unless you have an addictive problem with credit, credit cards can be part of your financial well-being. FICO – the credit rating bureau, actually wants to see some payment of credit, and if you use credit cards well you can actually help your financial situation. The best use of credit involves paying off the balance every month as much as possible, not paying off one credit card with another, and using cards mostly as a convenience rather than a way of paying necessities. You should be building an emergency fund, but it is also nice to have credit cards as a cusion. It is absolutely essential that you must at least pay the minimum on time every month. If you do not pay on time the companies may not only charge you a late fee but actually raise your rate. As you consider applying for credit cards, consider how you are thinking about them. Because you are approved for $30,000 does not mean you should run up a bill like that. You should live within your means, whether you have a credit card or not.
Not all credit cards are the same. Read the offers carefully to be sure that you are not going to pay a teaser rate that is very low and then be skyrocketed up to an exorbitant rate. Compare all the offers and be conservative. There is not a need to have a pocket full of credit cards, really one or two should meet all your needs. It is difficult to keep track of all the cards, and you want be sure that you are keeping track so that you can be on time for the payments, as mentioned before. Be sure that you consider all these issues before applying for credit cards and then monitor your use of them diligently. You should really only have one or two credit cards, more than that and you will find that it is difficult to track them, and as stated before you absolutely do not want to be late. Carefully compare all the offers that are presented to you before you sign up with a card, consider what credit means to you and you will be able to use it wisely.

How to Become a Nurse and How to get that first job in Nursing

I’ve been a nurse for over thirty years. I personally know that nursing offers tremendous versatility and promise as a career. But nursing can be very hard and stressful, and you need to carefully consider your reasons for going into nursing before you make the decision to do so . And then you can check out all the varieties of careers available inside of nursing, checking out the schooling and start on your new nursing  career.

Nursing is believed to be a field that will hold great promise for the future. With an aging population – often with many health problems – and a realization of the talents that nurses can bring in so many different areas from hospital nursing to legal consulting to public health – it is expected that the demand for nurses will continue to be high. Also nursing is becoming more technical everyday – with new scientific advances in fields such as neonatal intensive care nursing more highly trained nurses will be needed.

The traditional way of becoming a nurse was hospital based: a three year program that had much clinical training  in the hospital itself. Those programs have largely been phased out however, and more and more the emphasis is on getting an associates or bachelors degree as a way into nursing. And more and more the AD degrees are being passed by for the BSN which is seen as the beginning level for nurses.  There has been a move for every nurse to get their BSN – with a move called BSN in 10 – meaning each nurse should get a BSN in 10 years to practice nursing. There are advanced opportunities for nurses who possess Masters Degrees, and PhD programs have sprung up as well.

One of the problems that nurses have had recently is getting started as a new nurse. Even though the demand is high, some states and areas are especially impacted and although layoffs are rare, sometimes hiring of new graduate nurses has slowed if not completely stopped.

One option for new grads is to seek out programs of hospitals that offer internships, as you are much more likely to get a job from these. These internships can open you to specialties that you might not have even knew existed in nursing, as well as making your first days as a nurse easier because you are more trained.

In spite of difficulties getting that first job as a nurse, nursing might be a great career for you to pursue.  Once you can get that first year of nursing under your belt,  your options can be huge as their is  still active recruiting for experienced nurses.

And of course, nursing at its best offers something more than just a job – it offers the deep satisfaction of helping people when they really need you.

Napoleon Hill – Think and Grow Rich – Part Nine – The Power of Personal Initiative

Napoleon Hill introduces this video lesson on success by talking about two types of people – the kind of people that we do not want to be. He says “There are two types of people who never amount to anything:those who will not do what they are told and who will do nothing else.”

What is the difference in these types of commonplace ne’er do wells – and the exceptional successes that we are aiming to be? Napoleon Hill would say that one key factor is “personal initiative.”

What is personal initiative? Briefly, it is the power behind choosing one’s own way – the propelling force behind actions that make your primary purpose come into fruition.

Hilarious comedian Jonathan Winters was not always successful, but he knew he wanted to be a funny man. He said “I couldn’t wait for success, so I went ahead without it.” Also he insprises us to do the same and follow our dreams by using our own personal initiative to bring into force our primary purpose when he said “If your ship doesn’t come in, swim out to it!”

What is your personal initiative quotient? Do you do activities that you don’t have to because you are dancing to an internal musician – or are you like an automaton that performs only what you are told to do? Or are you like the adolescent – who can not do anything you are told – just because someone told you to do it, even if it is the best thing for you or is something you would actually love to do?

The person who is full of personal initiative is not like that. They respond to internal cues, and their external life begins to demonstrate that.

Just a few thoughts to ponder as we continue listening to the great master as he considers how to think and be rich.

Napoleon Hill: Think and Grow Rich: Chapter 8 – The Power Of Enthusiasm

Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich – Chapter 8: The Power of Enthusiasm In this beautiful video Dr. Napoleon Hill tells us how powerfully our life will change when we add the power of enthusiasm to our daily life. Enthusiasm is the juice – the energy that brings joy to our vision.  I was intrigued by Dr. Hill’s suggestion that we start off every conversion with another by enthusiastically shaking the hand of another and listening to what they say. If you do this – the person will feel listened to and feel like listening to you. This reminds me of the origin of the word of ” enthusiasm” –  being in theos – or in god.  That is how much power enthusiasm has – it adds divine juice to your plans.
